Dear Friends,

The most dreaded word in the English language is change.  Change nearly always means we have to reconsider what is comfortable and adjust to do what is best.  This is true in your operation, and in ours.  No one is immune to this wicked word yet, in most cases, things always seem to work out for the best in the end.  Those incapable of making changes in their operations find themselves incompetent  in their own environment, and unable to compete and be productive in their own business.  Each of you have made many changes over the years, or you simply wouldn't still be operating.  As we get older and more comfortable with our ways, change becomes more difficult, but we must all come to the realization that change is imminent and critical for survival.

I, too, have made many changes.  Three and a half years ago my world was turned upside-down by the loss of my grandfather.  One year later we lost grandma as well.  These were not changes I was ready for, but I adapted and went about my business, and overcame the obstacles to the best of my abilities.

Once again I feel the need to change.  As most of you are aware.  I have involved myself in other businesses outside of agriculture.  These businesses have grown and prospered to the point they require more and more of my time.  Due to these circumstances I am stepping down as manager of Casey Fertilizer and allowing Don to move into the driver's seat.

I will still be around most of the time.  Most of you will hardly know the difference.  I will still be very involved in the purchasing and pricing decisions.  I will still be here whenever we are busy and you need me the most.  I am not abandoning you or this company.  I am merely allowing myself a little more time to pursue other things.  Since I will no longer be handling the day-to-day operations, I feel it only fair to all involved to remove myself from the top management position.

I intend to be here, as always, when you require our services.  Whether it be for purchasing advice, soil fertility recommendations, weed or insect problems, or whatever else comes your way.  I will continue my training and maintain my CCA certification and will always put Casey Fertilizer first during the busy times of the year.  During the slow times I will likely be gone one or two days a week, I will be here the rest of the time, and will always be reachable should you need me.  Don will be here full-time for you and is fully capable of meeting whatever needs you may have.  Please give him the opportunity to serve you, and I am certain you will not be disappointed, as he has my complete confidence.

I am certain this change will come as a surprise at first, but I assure you that Casey Fertilizer will remain the best choice for all your needs.  If I had any doubt that Don could not handle this position I would not leave.  I have promised him, and extend to you, that I will only be a cell phone call away should a difficult decision, question, or situation arise.  Don, I, and Casey Fertilizer will continue to operate with the same level of integrity you have come to expect from all of us, guaranteed!!
