Safety

  • In case of emergency call 911
  • Severe leaks require a gas mask rated for anhydrous ammonia
  • Always wear impermeable rubber gloves
  • Always wear non-vented goggles
  • No contact lenses
  • Have water source available, 5 gallons on every vessel
  • Work upwind
  • Coded valves, Orange = liquid, Yellow = vapor
     

Emergency treatment

  • WATER, WATER, WATER!! No salves or ointment for 3 days.
  • Flush affected area. Susceptible areas are eyes, forehead, groin, palms, armpits, neck, and wrists.
  • Remove clothing from affected area AFTER area properly flushed. If attempted too soon, skin may come off with clothing.
  • Don't enter problem area alone or without alerting someone as to where you are going.

We now have two sizes of pressure vessels, or nurse tanks. The 1,000 gallon and 1450 gallon tanks.
